Ramona Wright, a 28-year-old public relations professor at Loyola Marymount University, was named Miss Ziba Girl 2007 at the conclusion of the fourth annual Ziba Girl Model Search contest held Aug. 19 at the Long Beach Towne Center here.
Earlier in the contest, Ziba Beauty Center owner Sumita Batra had named Wright as Best Visionary, based on an essay she had written, as had all the contestants, on what she wanted to accomplish in her life.
The four remaining finalists were Danya Cater and Arrin Thomas, along with Cynthia Salim, who had earlier won the title of Best Attitude, and Tehmina Sunny, who won the title of Most Photogenic.
Council member Suja Lowenthal also had special certificates of recognition for them from the City of Long Beach. In a brief address she said she has been a loyal Ziba customer for over 15 years and added every Ziba girl contestant is a woman of substance.
The 20 contestants, all Ziba customers, vied for 'Ziba Girl' in two segments. From the make up tent by the side of the stage the young women emerged one by one, traced their path around and stood directly in front of the judges and introduced themselves. In a closely contested tussle it was a tough job for the panel to choose a winner from the girls based on criteria such as eye contact, walk, appearance, confidence and overall impression the contestants conveyed.
It was Crystal Epinoza who captured the Best Eyes category and Cynthia Salim walked away with the Best Attitude award. The best Photogenic prize went to Tehmina Sunny and the best visionary to Ramona Wright while Diana Covarrchias captured in the Best Brow honor. At long last an eager audience and the anxious five finalists were finally relieved of their tension with the announcement of Ramona Wright as the winner of the Ziba Girl Model Search.
The new Ziba Beauty salon can be found at the Long Beach Towne Center where eyebrow threading and henna will be provided along with other beauty services to get people ready for that special occasion or just day-to-day life.
