| Dr. Taneja is a friend
that we trust and wanted to get his expert opinion on liposuction.
He would be happy to answer any additonal questions you may
have.

IS IT SAFE?
Absolutely. As long as a well trained plastic surgeon who
uses an accredited operating room facility performs the procedure.
Of course with any surgical procedure there are risks involved
and these should all be discussed with your surgeon.

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE
Patients who are healthy women with no significant medical issues
are excellent andidates. Thin, average, and moderately overweight
women are ideal candidates for this procedure as well. Women
who are significantly overweight or obese will need to lose
weight prior to liposuction, but they should first be evaluated
by a plastic surgeon prior to ruling out liposuction. Remember,
liposuction is not for weight reduction, it’s for body
contouring. Its for reducing inches, not pounds! |

PROCEDURE LENGTH
Detemining the number of areas which need liposuction will determine
the length of the procedure. The average length is approximately
1 ½ to two hours. Then there is a one hour recovery time
period. Once the patient is pain free, talking, tolerating a
diet, and is feeling well, she can be discharged. Almost all
liposuction patients can go home the same day of surgery. |

SCARRING
Very small incisions that are placed in hidden areas of your
body are used for the liposculpture procedure. These scars fade
very quickly and usually after six months, the scars are almost
all gone. |

POST-OP RECOVERY TIME
Most patients are back to work in one week. A support garment
is worn for three weeks and no heavy exercise is performed for
three weeks. Mild bruising and swelling are expected along with
potential changes in sensitivity contour and texture of the
skin. Although complications following liposuction are unusual,
it is important that every patient be well informed about the
procedure. |
