You might pass it by at first glance.
However, a closer look reveals a solid oak door with
a beautiful Indian etching. Pushing past those doors
leads to another world.
Welcome to Nirvana, one of the newest and hottest fusion
restaurants in Los Angeles. While trendy restaurants
come and go, Nirvana has managed to draw an eclectic
crowd through the various theme nights it holds, and
most of all it has emerged due to the unique and wonderful
taste of its food. Owner Deep Singh is considered
a pioneer in the restaurant industry.
Walking into the restaurant one is greeted by sensual
red walls, with varying portraits from the infamous
Kamasutra. In fact, the menu cover includes a quirky
henna shaped hand with varying scenes of passion. One
must start with the appetizers appropriately titled
“Foreplay.” Standing heads and tails
above anything are the stuffed mushrooms. |
A close
second is the “Nirvana Grill sampler” which
features various kebabs.
Once your taste buds are aroused, you must taste the
best item that is not even mentioned in the menu: the
“Bukhara Daal”. The term comes from one
of the most famous restaurants in India called Bukhara.
Bukhara daal is a lentil based thick soup made with
secret herbs and spices the owner would not share with
us. Other must have entrées include the “Nirvana
Chicken” which is diced chicken stuffed with cheese
and served with sautéed vegetables.
We wholeheartedly recommend the “Mango Napoleon”
which is mango slices with yogurt cream in a caramelized
filo pastry topped with mango sauce. |
