Q: I was going through your book, The Art of Mehndi™ and found a picture of a bride with white henna designs on her hands. How did you achieve that? Isn’t henna supposed to be orange in color?
-Debbi, Anaheim Hills, CA

A: First of all, thank you for reading my book. It always warms my heart to know that people find it interesting. I’m very proud of the fact that the book has sold over 80,000 copies around the world. And yes, you’re right, Mehndi—or henna—in its natural state is a stain, giving a temporary tattoo-like effect in a range of orange to deep burgundy hues. When I was hired for this particular shoot, I was told I’d be painting the Pantene model for the cover and inside spread of a bridal magazine in England. I just couldn’t imagine an orange or reddish-toned tattoo looking right with a beautiful white bridal gown. After reflecting upon it, I decided to use kum kum, a water-based body paint traditionally used in India to paint bindis. I retained the traditional Mehndi look and yet created an entire expression suited for a bride in white. Everyone was thrilled, and to date it’s one of my favorite looks.

At this time, I’m preparing to launch a new product that uses finite glitter to create the Mehndi look in almost any color. This type of hand-painted glitter tattoo will last up to two weeks

and you can shower with it, too! We’re currently testing this in our Cerritos salon with plans to make it available for sale in our stores soon.
Try it this summer with a sexy halter or for your vacation bikini. You’ll love the effect—and get a lot of admiring eyes!

Q: Hi! My sisters and I were regular customers at Ziba until we recently moved out to Las Vegas. So my question is, what are the chances of opening a Ziba Beauty Center in Las Vegas?
- Sheelah, Las Vegas NV

A: I am continually finding myself asking the question, when is Ziba coming to almost every major city that exists in the world? We’re celebrating our 20th anniversary

this September, and are steadily growing our presence in Southern California with our eyes on the national scene. We hope to expand to Las Vegas in the next five years, but in the meantime, I have some great news to share: We are considering a monthly trip to Las Vegas with our lead artists! If this happens, we’ll be sure to call you and ask for your help in spreading the word. While this may not be the ideal solution, just know that Ziba is expanding as quickly as possible.

We really appreciate your comments and support and count on loyal clients like you to help us grow. As you probably already know, our closest location to you is in Rancho Cucamonga located on Main Street in Victoria Gardens. It’s a beautiful development and a happening place to shop. Maybe you and some friends can drive over once a month and make a day out of it. Stay tuned for Ziba Las Vegas!
