The right brow shape has the power to lift your features, balance your face, and make you look more awake and polished all without a drop of makeup. But finding your perfect brow shape isn’t one-size-fits-all. At Ziba Beauty, our artists use a technique called brow mapping to identify the ideal arch, tail, and thickness for each individual client.
The Golden Rule: Three Key Points
No matter your face shape, every well-shaped brow is built on three measurements:
- The Start: Hold a pencil vertically at the outer edge of your nostril. Where it meets your brow is where your brow should begin.
- The Arch: Angle the pencil from your nostril through the center of your pupil. Where it intersects your brow is your ideal arch peak.
- The End (Tail): Angle the pencil from your nostril to the outer corner of your eye. Where it meets your brow bone is where your brow should end — never shorter than this point.
Brow Shapes by Face Type
Oval Face
You have the most flexible face shape almost any brow style works beautifully. A soft, slightly arched brow with a gradual peak is the most universally flattering. Avoid over-thin brows, which can appear dated.
Round Face
You want to create vertical lift. A high, defined arch with a more angled peak creates the illusion of length and structure. Keep the tail relatively long and extended short tails can make a round face appear even rounder.
Square Face
Soften strong jaw angles with a rounded arch. Avoid sharp, highly angled peaks, which compete with your jaw line. A gently curved brow with a moderate arch is ideal.
Heart Face
Balance a wider forehead and narrower chin with a low, flat arch and a slightly rounded shape. Avoid high arches, which draw attention to a broader brow bone.
Long / Oblong Face
A flat, straight brow with minimal arch visually widens the face and creates a sense of balance. Extra length in the tail helps anchor features horizontally.
Thickness Matters Too
Thicker brows are currently having a major moment and for good reason. Fuller brows tend to look more youthful, frame the face more effectively, and require less daily makeup maintenance. Our artists recommend keeping as much natural brow hair as possible, working with your natural growth pattern rather than against it.
“The best brow is always the one that looks like it belongs on your face — not like it was drawn on someone else’s.” — Ziba Master Artist
When to Let a Professional Map Your Brows
If you’ve over-tweezed in the past, have sparse growth, or have never had a professional shaping, we strongly recommend starting with a Ziba artist consultation. Our team will assess your natural growth pattern, bone structure, and features before shaping so you leave with brows that genuinely suit you, not a trend copied from a screen.
