When our team developed The Ziba Brow Crayon, we had one goal: create a product that any client from a first-timer to a makeup pro could use to get salon-quality brows at home. Step 1: Start With Clean, Brushed Brows
Before reaching for the Brow Crayon, take your spoolie (the one built into the crayon cap) and brush your brows upward and outward. This reveals your natural growth pattern and helps you see exactly which areas need filling. It also helps the waxy formula grip the hairs rather than sitting on bare skin.
Step 2: Choose the Right Shade
The Brow Crayon comes in three shades: Light, Medium, and Dark. Our rule: go one shade lighter than your natural hair color if you’re going for a soft, natural look, or match your hair color exactly for a more defined, full look. Very dark hair? Medium often reads more natural than Dark for everyday wear.
Step 3: Use the Oval Tip to Mimic Hair Strokes
This is where the Brow Crayon’s precision oval tip does its magic. Instead of filling the brow in a single swipe (which looks flat and unnatural), use short, upward strokes mimicking the direction of real brow hairs. Start at the arch and work outward toward the tail, then fill in the inner third last (this area requires the lightest touch).
- For sparse patches: Draw individual hair-stroke lines directly into the gap area, following the surrounding hair’s direction
- For the tail: Use a firmer, slightly longer stroke to create a defined, tapered end
- For the inner brow: Use the very tip of the crayon with almost no pressure for a soft, gradient effect
Step 4: Blend with the Spoolie
Once you’ve applied the crayon, flip it over and use the spoolie to brush through the brows again this time in the direction of natural hair growth. This step is non-negotiable. Brushing through the product blends your strokes into the real hairs, softens any harsh lines, and creates that coveted “feathered” finish that looks like you were born with perfectly defined brows.

Step 5: Clean Up Edges (Optional)
For a sharper, more defined look, use a small concealer brush with a tiny amount of your skin-toned concealer just beneath the tail and along the lower brow line. This cleans up any stray product and creates a lifted, clean finish.
Making It Last All Day
The Brow Crayon’s wax formula has natural staying power but if you need extra longevity (especially in warm Southern California weather), a light swipe of clear brow gel over the top locks everything in place for 8–12 hours without feeling stiff or crunchy.
